Workplace Health & Safety WHS
It is essential that the College provides a safe and supportive environment for staff, students and visitors. All workplaces in Australia are regulated by national state laws (Workplace Health & Safety Act QLD)to protect people from harm. This is known as harm minimisation. It is up to everyone on the premises to look out for each other and 'think safe' at all times.
Incidents & Accidents
At the College there may be incidents that could cause harm to staff, students, clients or visitors. Sometimes these incidents, where no one is injured are called 'near misses'. These can be useful to alert college staff so action can be taken to prevent further incidents happening in the future. When an incident leads to harm or injury to a person, this is known as an accident. All staff, students and visitors have a responsibility to ensure the workplace is safe and that their own actions do not put the health and safety of others at risk. Everyone must report all incidents and accidents. For students or visitors please report any accident/incident immediately to the college administration.
Emergency Services Call 000
Substance Policy
Alcohol and drugs can impair performance and affect the health and safety of everyone. The College has a strict NO alcohol, drugs or smoking on the premises policy.

Unacceptable Behaviour
The College is committed to upholding the highest standards of legal, ethical and moral behaviour. Unacceptable behaviour includes issues of Bullying, Violence, Discrimination & Harassment. These behaviours are unlawful in education and employment and the provision of goods, services and accommodation in the state of Queensland.
(Anti-Discrimination Act)
Bullying is characterised by repeated, unreasonable behaviour directed at an employee or student, or group of employees or students, that creates a risk to health and safety. Bullying behaviour is that which a reasonable person in the circumstances would expect to victimise, humiliate, undermine, threaten, degrade, offend or intimidate a person. The behaviour can include actions of an individual or a group, and may involve the bully using a system of work or inappropriately asserting power.
Violence is a physical assault or attack by direct or indirect application of force that creates a risk to health and safety. The attacker’s intent is not determinative.
Harassment is any form of behaviour that is not wanted, is not asked for and that a reasonable person would consider likely to create a hostile or uncomfortable workplace by humiliating, intimidating or offending another person because of an attribute protected by the law.
Anyone who believes that they are being or have been bullied, harassed or vilified is encouraged to come forward. All reasonable steps are taken to prevent unacceptable behaviour and appropriately manage concerns and complaints. Adverse action or reprisal will not be taken against a person who raises an 'unacceptable behaviour' issue or concern. Please report these issues or concerns to College Administration or follow the complaints procedure below.
