Feeling challenged working in the health care system for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse, I ventured into the field of Health Coaching. I felt confident this was the way forward in promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and helping those wanting to improve their health and make changes for the better.
It wasn’t long working in the space that I became aware of what’s known as the ‘dark hole’. The chasm between where a client is and where they want to be having reached their goals. One of the many skills of health coaching is to walk alongside the client and help them navigate crossing the chasm. However, the most concerning challenge was the realisation many clients did not know who they truly are other than being merely physical. Whilst I was trying to figure out the best approach to meet this challenge, I encountered my own that totally shock both my professional and personal worlds like an earthquake. Little did I know that the aftershock was about to dramatically change the course of direction of my life. Questions I regularly asked clients, I was now confronted with asking myself. “How do you feel about what’s happened?” “Why is it upsetting you the way it is?” “Everyone else is ok but why aren’t I?” I asked myself these questions repeatedly. Finally, I heard myself speak. What happened affected me the way it did was because I ignored my feelings. How I truly felt and fearful of retribution should I speak my truth. It would have been so much easier to remain in my thoughts (mind) disconnected from my feeling and attempting to rationalise the events as being ‘normal’. From the moment I gave myself permission to listen with love to my inner voice and speak my truth, my search began to find meaning in connecting with body, mind, and spirit. To this day I am in awe how the universe operates and delivers exactly what it is you are seeking once you connect and simply ask for divine help. My search lead me instantly to Psychosomatic Therapy (PT) and the PT College (PTC) based in Tweed Heads QLD. PT was established in 1988 embodying the brilliant work of Herman Muller (dec) and carried on by his devoted wife, Marie Muller, and cofounder of the PTC as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) since 2003. I would liken studying the Certificate 111 Psychosomatic Therapy as an awakening of the soul and the most wonderful journey of self-discovery. Our bodies are a moving, functional history of every physical, emotional, and spiritual encounter we have ever experienced in our lives. Experiences stored and not processed, such as trauma or grief can remain trapped creating dysfunction in the body’s structure manifesting as postural misalignment, physical or mental illness, and/or disease. We are not solely physical beings. Where there is a physical ailment, there is a root cause emotional ailment and vice versa. The future as a Psychosomatic Therapist is a glowing light in the ever-increasing demand on health care services. This exciting field of health is growing rapidly at a time when health professionals, or those wishing to explore their own health, are seeking an alternate approach. I highly recommend studying with the PTC and thank Marie, and brilliant team of teachers and mentors, for sharing their expertise in broadening my knowledge and understanding in the way we care for ourselves in body, mind, and spirit. With Love and Gratitude Jenny XXX
